SASMAP-15mC
The SASMAP 15mC project (Systems Approach to Shared Mobility, Accessibility and Proximity for 15 Minute Cities) addresses a central contradiction in contemporary proximity based mobility policy. While 15 Minute City (15mC) concepts aim to reduce car dependence through spatial proximity, empirical evidence demonstrates persistent reliance on private cars for a substantial proportion of everyday journeys.
Shared mobility, and car sharing in particular, offers a transitional alternative capable of reducing private car ownership while maintaining acceptable levels of accessibility and quality of life. However, fragmented provision, governance complexity and social exclusion have limited its adoption and policy credibility.
SASMAP 15mC responds to these challenges through an integrated socio technical research design combining system analysis, household level mobility data, quantitative modelling, co design and urban living labs across three European cities:
- Bristol (UK)
- Graz (AT)
- Helsingborg (SE).
