The Department of Technology and Society conducts largely policy-oriented and applied research that aims to better understand and contribute to solving various societal challenges.
We are active in some of the most pressing societal issues of our time, such as green transition, resource security, urbanisation and digitalisation. Much of the research and education at the department is characterised by its response to new societal challenges arising from technological developments and changes in the world around us. We teach on several of LTH's five-year engineering programmes and also offer freestanding courses and commissioned education.
